Laiki

One of the greatest things that you can experience in Greece is a local cuisine. Thanks to variety of fresh fruits and vegetables every meal here is like a little piece of rainbow. If you live in Athens the must do is to visit the local market that is held, depending on the neighbourhood, once a week. You can find there products from all over Greece, like honey from Evia, olives from Kalamata or melons from Crete, even though it's almost November.

Pomegranate - in the Ancient Mythology was also known as the "fruit of the dead". The fruit ( or some stories say that it was seeds of the fruit) was given to Persephona by Hades when she was held  in the Underworld as his wife.

Did you know THAT the olive tree was first cultivated in 6000 B.C.

Did you know THAT the Greek plural form of word "melon" already  in the ancient times was used as well to describe  "girl's breasts"

Surfing

On Sunday afternoon we had in Athens our little hurricane, of course nothing to compare with the giant one hitting The East Coast. Some people took advantage of it and of amazing waves that hit Vouliagmeni shore. When dozens of "Black Ninjas" attacked the waves with their surf boards we were just watching them from the above "Okeanida" restaurant and making a delicious Club Sandwich disappear. GUILTY - but it is simply the best Club Sandwich in Athens!!
